Navigating the world of pet food can be a challenging task for most people. When asked by a customer what the best dry or canned food is we always answer with a few questions of our own. In order to help you find the right food we like to find out the age of the pet, health concerns or conditions, and if there are any potential allergies or sensitivities. This helps us in giving you recommendations that can help your pet thrive.
While we trust and support each brand we carry, we are loyal to you first. Our goal is educate you and to help you make the right choice your pet’s needs.
Our Standards for the Foods We Carry
- We look for foods that are made with real, whole foods and free from cheap fillers such as (but not limited to) wheat, corn, soy, and by-products.
- We look for smaller companies that are accessible and transparent about their practices.
- We look for foods that are species-appropriate and meet the needs of our carnivorous dogs and cats.
Because of these standards, if a food no longer meets them we will simply drop the line, inform our customers of the reasons why we no longer carry it, and help them select a comparable replacement. To give an example, in 2015 we stopped carrying both Blue Buffalo and Merrick. We stopped carrying Blue Buffalo because it was found that they were false advertising the ingredients they were using in the foods, and Merrick because they were bought out by Purina. To this day we still get customers that thank us for this dedication and transparency.
